Ho Thi Quynh Chau

Vietnam

After graduating from Da Nang University of Technology in 2010 with an engineering degree in project management, Ho Thi Quynh Chau spent four years working as a specialist for an audit consulting company. Since 2014, she has worked for the State Audit of Vietnam (SAV) as an auditor in charge of auditing investment projects. To further improve her expertise, Chau chose to study for a master's degree at the University of Transport in Ho Chi Minh City. In 2019, she graduated with a master's degree in civil engineering.

During more than eight years at the SAV, her main task has been auditing investment construction projects, including four inspection processes: (i) economic-social effectiveness of projects, (ii) conformity of project approval, (iii) capital schedule, investing capital release; and (iv) actual implemented project cost and compliance with laws in quality control, schedule management and safety management. Chau works at the SAV’s Regional Office No. XIII in Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province.

My goals for the Fellowship

I endeavor to learn about the core meaning and nature of performance audit. On that basis, I will focus on how to conduct audit tasks (from developing an audit plan to applying it in the practical political-economic environment in Vietnam) to ensure that audit reports contain useful recommendations for parties involved in public financial management and public asset management in Vietnam.

Additionally, I want to push myself to adapt to different working environments, with new challenges (working in another language, using different audit methods, and working with new colleagues) on the way to discovering my own abilities.

The impact I hope to make as a graduate Fellow

I plan to share the knowledge, skills, and experience learned from the Fellowship with my colleagues, encourage them to think about our mutual goal, and inspire them to work together for the shared vision.

By completing an audit and gaining practical efficiencies, I will have a foundation to strengthen my colleagues’ belief in performance auditing and help them to adopt new practices.
