Focus On Series

Information Technology Security, the topic of the fourth edition of our Focus On series, has become very important for public sector organizations in recent years as the number and sophistication of cyberattacks have steadily increased.

In this environment, public sector organizations have to remain hyper-vigilant. They must implement the latest good practices in IT risk management to protect their IT assets from unauthorized access and to prevent the use, disclosure, disruption, modification, review, and destruction of the information they contain.

This Focus On issue provides an overview of 16 Canadian and Australian audits that have been published in the past five years about Information Technology Security. It highlights and describes the 10 most commonly examined areas in these audits and provides, for each selected audit, a summary that includes the audit objective, audit criteria, main findings and recommendations.

In addition, given the technical nature of this topic, this Focus On issue includes a glossary of selected Information Technology terms.
