James (Jim) McKenzie
Mr. McKenzie is a performance audit professional with over 30 years of experience in the public and private sectors. He was a Principal with the Office of the Auditor General of Canada from 2008 until his retirement in 2025. As a Director and Principal with the Office he directed 30 federal and territorial performance audits for both the Auditor General and the Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development. He has extensive planning, delivering, and reporting performance audits, and appearing as a witness before Canadian parliamentary committees in the House of Commons and the Senate, as well as the Standing Committee on Oversight of Government Operations and Public Accounts, a standing committee of the Legislative Assembly of Nunavut.
Throughout his career at the Office of the Auditor General of Canada, Mr. McKenzie was involved in the Canadian Audit and Accountability Foundation’s International Fellowships Program. This included working with Fellows assigned to his audit teams, as well as mentoring performance auditors from the national audit offices of Vietnam, Rwanda and Belize, helping build capacity in performance auditing internationally.
